New Delhi : The L&T Metro Rail in Hyderabad has come up with an initiative to promote electric vehicles (EVs), the first-of-its-kind in the country. Following this, L&T has joined hand with the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited to facilitate the prerequisite for electric vehicle charging stations at metro stations.

Sources confirmed that Miyapur and Balanagar Metro Stations will be charging stations at the beginning and later, the Power Grid will install similar electric vehicle charging stations across the entire Metro corridors. The kind of initiative is an approach to promote the electric vehicle charging stations and connectivity at Metro stations.

During the press meet, LTMRHL Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer KVB Reddy said, “We are committed to providing best-in-class eco-friendly green Metro services to citizens of Hyderabad and this is a step in that direction.”

EVs can also help in stabilization of grid further with Vehicle to Grid (V2G) concept, improving the per capita electricity consumption significantly.

Also, the running cost is noticeably low compared to the vehicles which run on fossil fuels.

According to the official press release, an app is being developed to help the consumers locate and share the status of availability of the charging station and facilitate online payment towards EV charging for flawless operation with minimum waiting time with these EV charging stations monitored and operated remotely by Power Grid.
