Kolkata : Subhabrata Majumdar, who was recently accused of preserving his mother’s corpse in the fridge, got discharged from Calcutta Pavlov Hospital. He was released from the hospital on account of court order which stated to send him home.

The 46-year-old man from Behala was reported for allegedly keeping his mother’s dead body in refrigerator for three years in the hope of reviving her back to life. When his insane activity was brought into notice by his neighbours, police arrested the accused and sent him Calcutta Pavlov Hospital on April 6 where he was being treated by a seven member medical board.

Majumdar’s relatives had appealed to the court to release him from the hospital citing that he is suffering from bug bites anxiety.

“We discharged the patient after getting the court order. During the discharge we have given an advisory to the relatives to see that he takes his medicines regularly and also brining him for check-ups on regular interval,” said Dr Ganesh Prasad, superintendent Calcutta Pavlov Hospital.

Majumdar got released at 4.30 pm on Friday and was accompanied by relatives with whom he would stay from now onwards. During investigative tests doctors found that he is suffering from a host of psychotic conditions. His condition improved during his stay in the hospital and doctors.
