New Delhi : On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off 10 new Vande Bharat trains, bringing the total number of trains in operation to over 50.

The 10 trains are the Lucknow-Dehradun Vande Bharat along with Patna-Lucknow, New Jalpaiguri-Patna, Puri-Visakhapatnam, Kalaburagi–Bengaluru, Ranchi-Varanasi, and Khajuraho-Delhi. The Railway Ministry will be running the second set of Vande Bharat trains on Ahmedabad-Mumbai, Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam, and Mysuru-Chennai routes.

Four existing Vande Bharat trains will have their routes extended. The Ahmedabad-Jamnagar Vande Bharat train will now travel to Dwarka, the Ajmer-Delhi train will continue to Chandigarh, the Gorakhpur-Lucknow train will go all the way to Prayagraj, and the Thiruvananthapuram-Kasargod Vande Bharat train will now go up to Mangaluru. Vande Bharat trains run on electrified, broad-gauge networks across various states.

In December 2023, the Prime Minister inaugurated six new Vande Bharat trains. One of them was the second train between Katra and New Delhi. The other five trains were Amritsar-Delhi, Coimbatore-Bangalore, Mangalore-Madgaon, Jalna-Mumbai, and Ayodhya-Delhi. Additionally, the second train between Delhi and Varanasi was also inaugurated in December 2023.

After adding these 10 new Vande Bharat trains to the portfolio, there will be a total of 51 trains. 10 out of them will have their final destination as Delhi.
