12 dead, four injured after a car, tractor collide on highway in Bihar

Muzaffarpur : 12 people, including 2 children, have been killed and four were critically injured after a SUV car collided with a tractor on National Highway 28 in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district on Saturday morning.

The station house officer of Kanti, Kundan Kumar, said that 11 people died on the spot, while one succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The injured people were shifted to the Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) in Muzaffarpur. "We have sent four injured to the SKMCH, where one of them died," he said.

Talking about the identity, he said that two injured people have been identified as Rambadan Sahni and Dhruva Sahni, residents of Simari village under Hathaudi police station.

The doctors have said that their condition is critical.

“We are monitoring them very closely. All the necessary action is being taken to save their lives. The next 24 hours are very crucial for us. We can say something only after that,” Dr Sunil Kumar Shahi, superintendent of SKMCH, said.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, the accident happened at around 4:30 am when the speeding SUV collided head on with the tractor.

The entire front portion of the SUV was flattened under the impact of the collision and its driver and two others, sitting on the front seat, died instantly.

“We are trying to identify the victims. The ex gratia amount of Rs 4 lakh to the deceased family members will be given as per rules,” he said.
