13-year-old raped brutally in Delhi, CM Arvind Kejriwal shaken to the core
New Delhi : A 13-year-old girl was raped and tortured inside her home in Delhi. The girl is in a critical state and under observation at AIIMS after her surgery. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tagged the incident as 'barbaric' and assured stringent punishment for the guilty.
"The child is in a serious state, unconscious. A surgery has been done. She will be under observation for 24 to 48 hours," Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said after visiting AIIMS. He claimed that he will appoint the best lawyer for this case and assured the toughest punishment for the culprit.
The girl was bleeding massively and had several wounds on her body when she was taken to the hospital.
Before leaving for AIIMS, CM Kejriwal tweeted to condemn the brutal act.
According to initial reports, the girl was sexually assaulted and was also attacked with a sharp object. An attempt to murder case has been registered against the attacker.
Neighbours found the girl lying in blood and informed her parents and the police. The police are questioning residents in the area and scanning security footage.
"We received information on Tuesday regarding the assault of a minor girl. An FIR under section 307 (attempt to murder) and POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act has been registered and further investigation is underway," senior police officer A Koan said.
