New Delhi : India on Friday registered 2.67 lakh new cases of coronavirus in a day, the highest in 239 days. Deaths due to coronavirus rose to 315 in last 24 hours, said the health ministry.

Meanwhile, 5,753 confirmed cases of omicron have been registered in India till date. There has been a 4.83 per cent increase in Omicron cases since Thursday.

The active cases have increased to 12,72,073, the highest in 220 day. The active cases now comprise 3.48 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has decreased to 95.20 per cent.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 14.78 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 11.83 per cent. The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive has exceeded 155.39 crore, the ministry said.

Delhi and Maharashtra have been the highest contributor in the case tally with 28,867 and 44,406 new cases respectively in last 24 hours.

The coronavirus cases have increased significantly in India in the last two weeks.
