51,667 new coronavirus cases registered, 4.4% less than yesterday

New Delhi : India registered a little less number of coronavirus cases on Friday than Thursday, dropping the number of cases by around 4.4%.

India on Friday registered 51,667 new cases, a marginal drop from yesterday's 54,069 figure. With the latest addition of cases, the total tally now stands at 3.01 crore while total fatalities are now at 3.93 lakh after 1,329 deaths.

For the 18th consecutive day, the positivity rate fir India is under 5% at 2.98 per cent.

Active cases have decreased by 14,189 in the last 24 hours to take the tally to 6,12,868. Recoveries have been outnumbering the daily new cases for the 43rd consecutive day now.

Kerala contributed 12,078 cases to the country's daily numbers. It was followed by Maharashtra (9,844 cases) and Tamil Nadu (6,162 cases).

Meanwhile, vaccination has also been paced up in many parts of the nation. More than 2 crore doses have been administered within the 72 hours of the launch of new regime. Over 30.79 crore vaccine doses administered since the start of the massive nationwide vaccination drive in January.

According to government data, more than 1.89 crore balance and unutilised COVID-19 vaccine doses are still available with the states and Union territories.
