Munnar : Nine people have been reported dead and over 80 people are feared trapped under the debris after a massive landslide was reported at Rajamala, Idukki district.

An eyewitness told news agency ANI that they heard a loud sound when landslide occurred. "People were running to safety & water was gushing in," says the eyewitness.

Meanwhile, Kerala Minister KK Mani has said that the rescue work is underway and he will be going to the incident site.

India Meteorological Department has issued red and orange alerts for heavy rainfall for various districts. Red alert in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki and Wayanad districts for today.
