New Delhi : Aam Aadmi Party is currently facing a lot of political criticism due to continuous charges against its MLAs, the latest to come under fire is Naresh Balyan who has been arrested on assault charges.

Naresh Balyan is the 13th lawmaker from AAP government to land in Delhi Police net, triggering sharp reactions from the party.

Balyan’s arrest came on a day when Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was questioned by Anti-Corruption Branch over the complaint by DCW chief.

"AAP MLA Balyan was arrested today in connection with a case of assault registered at Uttam Nagar police station last week," said Dependra Pathak, joint commissioner of police (Southwest).

Balyan was called for questioning to the police station around 8.30 PM and was later arrested, said a senior police officer.

Mahavir Fauji, an associate of Balyan, was also arrested, he added.

The Aam Aadmi Party once again termed it as a political vendetta in action against its MLAs, blaming Centre and Delhi Police conspiracy behind this.

AAP spokesperson Ashutosh termed the action against party MLAs as "dictatorship".

"Modi's dictatorship-one day- Dy CM interrogated by ACB, AAP Gujarat in charge Gulab Singh issued NBW, MLA Naresh Balyan arrested," he tweeted.
