AAP red faced with chilli powder on Arvind Kejriwal's face

New Delhi : Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was allegedly attacked with Chilli powder outside his office in the national capital on Tuesday. A man first handed him over a letter, and then bent down to touch his feet, gets up and forcefully smears chilli powder on his face.

The attacker has been identified as a 40-year-old man with name Anil Kumar Sharma. He has been taken into police custody for interrogation while cops are trying to find the intention behind the attack.

We are trying to investigate if the chilli powder "fell unintentionally", said the police.

Mr. Arvind Kejriwal was leaving for lunch when the incident took place in one the most secure buildings in the national capital – Central Secretariat.

Aam Aadmi Party blamed Delhi Police, controlled by the BJP, for failing to provide safety to the chief minister.

"The Delhi Police has repeatedly failed to stop anti-social elements from entering the secretariat. They are doing this on the directions of the BJP that rules the centre," AAP lawmaker Alka Lamba said.

Omar Abdullah also raised suspicion on Delhi Police's intention to solve the case. He wrote on Twitter, "How does chilli powder that “falls from his hand” defy gravity & fall upwards in to @ArvindKejriwal ji’s eyes?"

The BJP's Delhi unit condemned the incident. "I strongly condemn it. This should not be tolerated or justified. The matter should be investigated," Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari said.
