New Delhi : The All India Students' Association (AISA) has expelled its activist Anmol Ratan from the party after a 28-year-old woman filed a FIR against him alleging rape.

Showing support for the woman, AISA also said it would stand by the complainant in her “fight for justice”.

Key Notes:

# A 28-year-old woman files FIR against Anmol Ratan, Ex-activist for AISA, for allegedly raping and threatening her.

# AISA expelled Anmol Ratan from the organization and showed support for the woman in her fight for justice.

# "AISA takes serious note of the fact that Anmol Ratan, a leading activist of AISA, is facing a criminal complaint of sexual assault. He is henceforth expelled from the primary membership of AISA," Ashutosh Kumar, state secretary of the organization, said in a statement Sunday.

# "AISA will be unflinching on the principles of gender justice even if it involves a leading member of the organization. We stand by the complainant in her fight for justice," he added.

# The woman said a few days back she had posted on Facebook that she wants to see the movie Sairat and if someone can give her copy of the film.

# Apparently, Anmol reverted that he could be of help and when the lady met her to take the copy of the film, he forcefully raped and threatened her.

# The incident has put AISA and ABVP at loggerheads. ABVP has called for protests throughout the day at various schools of JNU.
