New Delhi : Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday took oath as the 18th Chief Minister of Punjab at Khatkar Kalan, the ancestral village of Bhagat Singh.

During his oath taking ceremony, he said, "Hukumat vo karte hain jinka dilon par raj hota hai, yun to kehne ko murge ke sar pe bhi taaj hota hai."

Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal was also present at the oath taking ceremony.

In the recently concluded assembly elections, AAP uprooted Congress and won 96 seats in the 117-member Punjab Assembly.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to Bhagwant Mann and said he hopes to work together in growing the state.

PM Modi tweeted: "Congratulations to Shri @BhagwantMann Ji on taking oath as Punjab CM. Will work together for the growth of Punjab and welfare of the state’s people."



Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal also congratulated Bhagwant Mann for becoming the CM and wrote, "I hope happy days will arrive soon in Punjab under the leadership of Bhagwant Mann."
