BJP firm to make Devendra Fadnavis Maharashtra Chief Minister
Mumbai : Despite resistance from its key ally Shiv Sena, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is keen on reinstating Devendra Fadnavis as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
According to reports, the same message has also been shared to NCP which is okay to bring Fadnavis back as CM. It has been learned that the same message will be conveyed to Shiv Sena soon despite resistance to keep Eknath Shinde on the post.
It is likely that the party will offer the post of Deputy CMs to Shiv Sena (Shinde) and Ajit Pawar’s faction. However, official announcement on portfolio selection is yet to be made.
While Shiv Sena and NCP have elected Shinde and Pawar as their legislative party leaders respectively, BJP has not yet made its official announcement, but Fadnavis's selection as the leader of the party has looked a foregone conclusion since Saturday when BJP romped home with a record-shattering tally on the strength of the strategy and ground game he had scripted.
Meanwhile, both Devendra Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde moved to Delhi to meet Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss government formation and leadership issues.
