Caught On Camera: Dragged on car bonnet, traffic policeman escapes death

New Delhi : Being a traffic policeman and staying on roads amid different weather conditions is already a tough job, but dealing with traffic rule violators who even does not care about your life just to escape a traffic challan is tragic.

In Delhi's Dhaula Kuan, a traffic police officer nearly missed his death after he was dragged by a traffic rule violator onto his car bonnet for about 400 meters.

As seen in the CCTV footage, the car driver suddenly started running away from the policemen who tried to stop him; during the course he smashed his car to one of the officers and he got onto his car bonnet. Instead of stopping the car, the driver tried zig-zag move to get rid of the officer on the car. 

During the course, the police officer falls on the road and nearly misses his legs from coming under the car. Watch video below:


The incident happened on Monday. Constable Mahipal Singh is seen standing next to the hatchback, which was stopped for using a fancy numberplate; he jumps on to the car the minute the driver tries to flee.

The car driver was arrested after one kilometre chase. The accused was identified as Shubham, who is a resident of Uttam Nagar in south west Delhi.

Police has arrested Shubham on charges of obstructing, hurting and wrongful driving.
