Raipur : Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha on Friday gave green signal to the state Goods and Service Tax Bill by voice note.

With the decision, Chhattisgarh has become the fifth state to adopt GST Bill, making it easier to implement the new tax regime across the nation by July 1.

A special one day session was called in the Vidhan Sabha to debate the topic. After three-hour long debate, the bill was passed.

Chief Minister Raman Singh and treasury benches described the move as historic.

State commercial taxes minister Amar Agrawal, who tabled the bill, said the camps would be organized across the state to address the queries of traders and businessmen about GST.

The other states who have agreed to adopt GST Bill are Bihar, Jharkhand, Telangana and Rajasthan.
