New Delhi : Amarnath Yatra has been temporarily suspended after a cloud burst was reported on Friday that has killed around 15 people and more than 40 are missing. The flash floods were reported near the shrine cave.

The rescue work is underway and it has been claimed that if the weather remains clear then the yatra will be resumed from Saturday. The injured people have been shifted to the hospitals for medical aid.

It has been learned that the cloudburst happened amid heavy rains in the upper reaches of the Amarnath cave.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the incident and assured all possible assistance for the rescue operation.

Meanwhile, the authorities have also issued the helpline numbers to get update on injured and missing people.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) meanwhile has predicted heavy rainfall with thunderstorm and lightning over Jammu and Kashmir on July 10.
