Dehradun : A bunch of houses and shops were damaged in Devprayag after a cloudburst was reported on Tuesday; Devprayag is located 120kms from Dehradun in Uttarakhand. No casualties have been reported in the incident so far.

"No casualties have been reported yet. SDRF teams are on their way to the spot," Uttarakhand police chief Ashok Kumar was quoted as saying by ANI news agency.

The cloudburst was reported around 5pm on Monday. Most of the establishments with shops were damaged in the incident, but since they were closed due to ongoing lockdown in the state, no casualty has been reported so far.

The water level has been rising in the area, an official told news agency ANI.

This comes months after over 200 people died or went missing in the state's Chamoli after a glacial break triggered flash flood in Rishiganga river.

Another glacier break killed eight people near the Indo-China border in Uttarakhand last month.
