Punjab : Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to reopen Kartarpur corridor as the coronavirus situation is now improving in the state and the nation.

In a letter to the Prime Minister, Captain (retd) Amarinder said that his government would be happy to work with the Government of India in ensuring proper coronavirus protocols, including testing and vaccination of pilgrims during the corridor access.

“The COVID-19 situation in Punjab has shown signs of significant improvement in the past one month and I am happy to share that yesterday, no COVID-19 related death was reported after a period of almost one year,” he wrote.

The movement at Kartarpur Corridor was suspended in March 2020 when lockdown was imposed in India due to coronavirus cases.

The corridor was opened for pilgrimage on auspicious occasion of the 550th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in November 2019.
