Congress names Revanth Reddy as new Chief Minister of Telangana
Hyderabad : After winning the Assembly Elections in Telangana, Congress has announced Revanth Reddy as the new Chief Minister of the state. He will take oath as the new CM on December 7, 2023 at LB Stadium.
While the Congress has announced the name of CM, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is still discussing and yet to reveal the name of Chief Ministers for states - Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.
Revanth Reddy, aged 54, was recognized for playing a key role in the decisive success of the Congress party in the recently concluded Assembly elections. The party secured a commanding majority with 64 seats, and Revanth Reddy emerged as the prominent face of the party's campaign.
Announcing the decision reached during AICC meeting at a press briefing in Delhi, the organizational general secretary of the party, K.C. Venugopal, said, "Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has chosen Revanth Reddy as the new leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP). Currently serving as the PCC president, Revanth Reddy is a dynamic leader who actively participated in the extensive campaign alongside other senior leaders. We are confident that the primary focus of this government will be to fulfill the aspirations and commitments made to the people of Telangana."
Venugopal was accompanied by AICC Telangana incharge Manikrao Thakre, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and senior TPCC leader N. Uttam Kumar Reddy.
After the decision, Revanth Reddy, expressed his gratitude to the public and also the party via a social media post. In a post on X, Revanth Reddy thanked all the top leaders. He posted: "I wholeheartedly express my gratitude to honourable AICC president Shri @kharge ji, Mother of Telangana our beloved #Soniamma, ever inspiring leader @RahulGandhi ji, charismatic @priyankagandhi ji, AICC General Secretary (Org) @kcvenugopalmp ji, deputy CM of Karnataka @DKShivakumar ji and Incharge General Secretary- Telangana @Manikrao_INC ji and last but not the least our congress soldiers who stood by us through thick and thin (sic)."
