Coronavirus Cases in Maharashtra rise again, crosses 10,000-mark

Mumbai : After a few days of decline, coronavirus cases in Maharashtra have again started to increase as the state registered a spike of nearly 1500 cases on Wednesday.

The state has registered 10,066 new cases on the day, pushing the total tally of coronavirus cases to 59,97,587, from 8,473 cases on Tuesday. A total of 11,032 people recovered from coronavirus in the same duration.

With the latest recoveries, the total number of recovered people in Maharashtra stands at 57,53,290, according to the state health bulletin.

In the previous 24 hours, the state also recorded 163 fatalities, and an additional toll of 345 fatalities were also reconciled. The death toll now stands at 119,303.

Meanwhile, the financial capital Mumbai also recorded a jump in the coronavirus cases as it registered 864 new COVID-19 cases, a spike from 568 cases reported on Tuesday. The state tested a total of 241,801 samples on Wednesday, a slight increase from the 216,861 tests conducted a day before.

Meanwhile, the Central government authorities have asked Maharashtra to increase the vaccination and raise awareness among people for coronavirus vaccine.
