New Delhi : Despite decline in daily number of coronavirus infection, Maharashtra has registered 103 deaths in a single day (highest in four months). Last time, the state had registered such huge number of deaths was on September 1 (183 deaths).

With the new addition, the total number of fatalities in the state have reached 142,461.

Talking about the daily infections, the cases tally is on the declining trend with 24,948 new cases registered on Friday. The financial capital – Mumbai – also registered a decline with 1,384 new coronavirus cases in the same time frame.

Mumbai's daily death toll, however, saw a reduction to 10 on Friday from Thursday's 12. The city has reported 16,591 Covid-19 deaths since the pandemic struck, as per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) as well as state bulletin data.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra has reported 110 fresh cases of Omicron variant of coronavirus. The state's total tally of omicron variant now stands at 3,040.
