Covid 19: Over 14 lakh people cured in India, 61,537 new cases in one day
New Delhi : India's total tally of coronavirus cases stands at 20,88,610, with 61,537 cases being reported in one day. The total number of recoveries were 13,78,105 including 48,901 in past 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry data.
Currently, India has 6,19,088 active cases of coronavirus infection. 933 patients succumbed to coronavirus infection in past 24 hours, taking the overall death toll to 42,518.
This was the ninth consecutive day when India registered more than 50,000 new coronavirus cases.
Till August 7, ICMR said that they have tested a cumulative total of 2,33,87,171 samples. Nearly six lakh samples were tested on Friday itself.
Meanwhile, Russia is likely to register its first vaccine against the coronavirus on 12 August, Deputy Health Minister Oleg Gridnev said on Friday, according to a report.
Serum Institute of India (SII) on Friday said the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will provide at-risk funding of $150 million to manufacture 100 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines for India and low-and-middle income countries.
