New Delhi : Rajnath Singh on his first official visit as Union Defence Minister asked troops stationed at Siachen to 'give befitting reply to any misadventure from Pakistan'.

Reviewing the situation in Siachen Glacier-Saltoro Ridge region on Monday, Rajnath Singh assured that the government is aware of all the operational and administrative requirements of the Army and will provide everything on priority.

He laid a wreath at the ‘Siachen War Memorial’ in the memory of the soldiers who died while on duty in Siachen, which is also claimed by Pakistan.

Indian Army chief General Bipin Rawat accompanied Rajnath Singh on his official visit.

“I am proud of all Army personnel serving in Siachen who are leaving no stone unturned to defend our motherland. I am also proud of their parents who have sent their children to serve the nation by joining the Armed Forces,” an official statement quoted him as saying.

According to news reports, Rajnath Singh was briefed in detail about the requirements of the troops stationed in the area.
