Watch: Delhi Police clears Shaheen Bagh amid coronavirus outbreak, protesters detained
New Delhi : Delhi Police on Tuesday cleared the Shaheen Bagh protest site for being in violation of the ongoing lockdown over spreading Covid-19 disease in the national capital.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had announced lockdown in the national capital from Monday as part of measures to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Last week, he had released a statement saying that all kind of public gatherings, including protests are prohibited in the national capital.

News agency ANI reported a Delhi Police official as saying, "People at the protest site in Shaheen Bagh were requested today to clear the site as lockdown has been imposed. But after they refused, action was taken against violators as the assembly was unlawful. Protest site has been cleared. Some protesters have been detained."
Earlier on Tuesday, the Delhi Police had deployed additional personnel to the Shaheen Bagh area as prohibitory orders were in force.
People had been sitting on the Shaheen Bagh road since last three months, demanding cancellation of CAA and NRC in India.
