New Delhi : Delhi is now ready to unmask itself after months when coronavirus struck and almost left everyone in shock. DDMA in its recent official order announced that no penalty will be charged for not wearing masks in public places. However, it asked people to remain cautious and use masks in closed spaces.

The decision to scrap the fine comes after significant drop in the number of new coronavirus cases in the national capital. Earlier, Rs 500 was fined to the people who were caught without masks in public places.

A meeting was called by Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal, the participants agreed on removing all coronavirus related restrictions. The order by DDMA will come to effect immediately.

The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, deputy CM Manish Sisodia and other senior officials of Delhi government.

Wearing of masks was made mandatory by the Delhi government after coronavirus cases had started increasing in the national capital. 

Coronavirus Cases in Delhi

On April 1, Delhi reported 131 new cases of coronavirus with a positivity rate of 0.57 per cent. The total tally of coronavirus infection in Delhi stands at 18,65,101.
