New Delhi : BJP lawmaker Pannalal Shakya has delivered a controversial statement on his speech which has triggered anger and disappointment across his listeners. Few months back, he questioned India’s cricket captain Virat Kohli's patriotism after his wedding in Italy, and, now he has stepped into another controversy.

Pannalal Shakya a BJP lawmaker from Guna Madhya Pradesh said at the event at the Guna Government College- “"Why do girls have boyfriends? They shouldn't make boyfriends, the atrocities against them will stop," He also advised boys to "refrain from embracing the western culture of making girlfriends".

The 57 years old MP lawmaker also added- "Indian culture, women are held in high regard, we worship them four times in a year so how should I believe that there are atrocities against women... figures show otherwise."

His speech annoyed many people and most of them have been seen expressing their disappointment of selecting legislature like him. Many spoke out in Twitter, of which one tweeted, “

Many spoke up on Twitter to express disappointment. It is our stupidity that we selected a legislature like him- “Had we been more careful in whom we select, we would not have faced this issue in first place”.

Pannalal had been in news last December, when he questioned Team India captain Virat Kohli's "patriotism" after he married actress Anushka Sharma in Italy. 

While inaugurating 'Skill India Centre', the legislator from Guna, Panna Lal Shakya, told a gathering: "Virat earned money in India... But he didn't find any place to marry in the country. Is Hindustan untouchable?"

He went on to say, "Lord Rama, Lord Krishna, Vikramaditya, Yudhishthir got married on this land. You all must have got married here. None of us goes to a foreign country to get married ... (Kohli) earned money here and spent billions there (Italy)... (he) doesn't have any respect for the country. This proves he is not a patriot."

Meanwhile, the BJP team had distanced itself from the controversial comment Pannalal Shakya.
