Dr. K.A. Paul calls for immediate fulfilment of bifurcation promises to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana

New Delhi : Dr. K.A. Paul, Founder of the Praja Shanti Party, on Sunday addressed the media at Andhra Bhawan, New Delhi, urging the Union government to honour long-pending commitments made to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana at the time of bifurcation in 2014.

Dr. Paul stated that assurances, including Special Category Status or equivalent special financial assistance for Andhra Pradesh, have not been implemented despite commitments made in Parliament and Union Budgets. He said the issue is currently before the Andhra Pradesh High Court, where, following an order by Hon’ble Justice Narendra, notices were issued to the Government of India, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and former Chief Minister Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy. However, no counters have been filed even after 18 months.

Calling the delay unacceptable, Dr. Paul appealed to both leaders to file counters by January 21, 2026, stressing that special assistance would accelerate development, generate employment, and strengthen education, healthcare, and state revenues.

He demanded immediate action on special financial assistance, completion of the Polavaram irrigation project, infrastructure development, protection of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, and fulfilment of pending commitments to Andhra Pradesh, including railway zones and national project status for key irrigation schemes.

Further, he also emphasised the significance of fulfilling promises made to Telangana such as Kazipet Rail Manufacturing Unit, Bayyaram Steel Plant, NTPC Ramagundam Phase-II, establishment of Central Horticulture University, National Institute of Disaster Management and National Status to the Palamuru-Rangareddy project.

Dr. Paul urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure equitable development of all states and called upon the media and people of the Telugu states to support this demand for justice and development.

He also expressed condolences to Anil Agarwal and his family on the passing of his son Agnivesh Agarwal.
