Bengaluru : The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Friday successfully carried out the maiden flight of the Autonomous Flying Wing Technology Demonstrator. The test was done at the Aeronautical Test Range, Chitradurga, Karnataka.

According to the official press release, the plane has been made by Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), Bengaluru, who named it "Unmanned Aerial Vehicle".

The combat drone is powered with a small turbofan engine. The airframe, undercarriage and entire flight control and avionics systems used for the aircraft were developed indigenously.

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh extended his wishes to DRDO, calling it a major achievement in terms of getting closer to India's Atmanirbhar Bharat agenda in critical military systems.

DRDO shared the video of the flight on Twitter. In the video, the plane can be seen making a perfect take-off and landing. Watch video below:
