D-Day for SP: Election Commission to decide upon cycle today

Lucknow : It is D-Day for Samajwadi Party as Election Commission will be taking the final call on Friday over if Mulayam Singh Yadav or Akhilesh Yadav led faction will take control of the party and its election symbol of "cycle".

The decision will be taken after both side appears before the body by 12:30pm.

"The ECI will hear arguments from both sides before deciding on whom to award the party symbol 'cycle'," the source said.

The Election Commission's decision came days after both side approached to claim the stake over party's symbol.

Mulayam Singh first approached the EC on January 2, a day after he was dislodged as the party chief by Akhilesh Yadav and his uncle and close confidante Ram Gopal Yadav at an emergency national party executive meeting.
