Enforcement Directorate arrests P Chidambaram in INX Media Case

New Delhi : A three-member team of Enforcement Directorate arrested former Union Fincance Minister P Chidambaram on Wednesday after questioning him for more than an hour in Delhi's Tihar jail in the INX Media case.

The arrest has been made after a special court in Delhi on Wednesday agreed to the agency's request for his custodial interrogation. The 74-year-old leader has been in Tihar jail since September 5 in the money laundering case.

P Chidambaram's wife and son also paid him a visit in the Tihar jail today morning.

After meeting his father, Karti said the 74-year-old is in "good spirits". "I came to meet my father. He is in good spirits. Whatever these procedural games are being played are for political theatrics. This is a bogus investigation," he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

On Tuesday, the Enforcement Directorate officials had moved an application in the Delhi court seeking permission to formally arrest P Chidambaram for custodial interrogation in the INX Media case.
