New Delhi : A shot has been fired at the Gate No 5 of Delhi's Jamia Millia Islamia University in South Delhi, reported news agency ANI.

Two suspects wearing red jackets arrived on a scooter at the spot, said Jamia Coordination Committee. No one from the protesters has been reported injured in the incident.

This is the third firing incident within one week in the national capital. All of the firing incidents are against the protesters of CAA.

According to the police, some students have told them that the shots were fired at the gate, 2 km from Shaheen Bagh, where protesters have been camping from past two months to raise their voices against the CAA.

In some of the videos shared on social media, protesters can be seen running here and there to find a cover after the sound of bullet shot.

"Police officers at Jamia Nagar went to the place and searched the area. No empty bullet shells were found there. Also, there were different versions about the vehicle in which the alleged miscreants came. Some said it was a scooter, others said it was a four-wheeler. Many people, including students, have gathered outside the police station. They will be asked to give a complaint. We will conduct a probe," said senior police officer Kumar Gyanesh.

Earlier, a teen boy had fired a shot at the protesters marching towards Rashtrapati Bhawan; two days later a man fired gun shot at the Shaheen Bagh protesters.

Hours before the firing outside Jamia University on Sunday, the Election Commission removed Indian Police Service officer Chinmoy Biswal, the Deputy Police Commissioner (DCP) of south-east Delhi, from his post after two firing incidents at anti-CAA protest sites.
