Mumbai : Former Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) and he announced it via his official Twitter handle; he also mentioned that he will go into home isolation.

"I have been working every single day since the lockdown but now it seems that God wants me to stop for a while and take a break ! I have tested Covid-19 positive and in isolation. Taking all medication & treatment as per the advice of the doctors," he wrote on Twitter.

This comes as a jolt for BJP because Fadnavis is in-charge of the BJP’s poll campaign for the assembly elections in Bihar.

The Assembly elections in Bihar are scheduled from October 28 to November 7 in three phases. The counting of votes will take place on November 10.

He also asked the people who came into his contact recently should also get tested and isolate in case of any symptoms related to COVID-19. "Those who have come in contact with me are advised to get covid19 tests done. Take care, everyone!" he said.
