Government introduces new Rs 10 note: It's chocolate brown in colour

New Delhi : The Reserve Bank of India introduced a new Rs 10 currency note that is chocolate brown in colour. 

The new currency note will have the same height of 63mm as the current ten rupee note but the width will be 123 mm - slightly lesser than the 137 mm width of the existing note.

Another change has been made on the back side of the note where a motif of the Konark Sun Temple has replaced image of fauna of India - rhinoceros, elephant and tiger.

The RBI announced that the new Rs 10 currency note will come into circulation in coming days with the sign of new RBI governor Urjit Patel.

The current 10 Rs currency note will continue to be the legal tender.

Other features of the new not include, a see-through register with denominational numeral 10. 2. Denominational numeral 10० in Devnagari scrip, portrait of Mahatma Gandhi at the centre, The new note will continue to have windowed demetalised security thread with inscriptions 'Bharat (in devnagri).

RBI has also asked banks to recalibrate their ATM machines so that the newly printed Rs 200 currency note can be put into circulation.
