New Delhi : The Government is all set to launch its new programme under the Lucky Grahak Yojana and Digi-Dhan Vyapar Yojana in 100 cities over 100 days December 25. The govt has called it a ‘Christmas gift to the nation’, a cash bonanza to promote digital transaction as the Centre is rigorously pitching for cashless society post demonization.

Under the schemes, consumers and merchants using UPI, RuPay cards, Aadhar-enabled and USSD-platforms are eligible for daily prizes of Rs 1,000. There are weekly draws with a maximum prize for Rs 1 lakh for consumers and Rs 50,000 for merchants.

On April 14, the birth anniversary of Dalit icon BR Ambedkar, a mega draw will be held. Consumers can win awards of Rs 1 crore, Rs 50 lakh and Rs  25 lakh while merchants can win Rs 50 lakh, Rs 25 lakh and Rs 5 lakh.

Only payments above Rs 50 and below Rs 3,000 will be considered. The winners will be picked through a random selection of digital transaction IDs by the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI), which is also the implementing authority for the scheme.

The Centre has allotted Rs 340cr for both customers and merchants selected through lucky draws.

To create awareness in different parts of the country, this event would be followed in 100 different cities across India over the next 100 days until March.

Besides, schemes have also been launched to improve supply of cards and POS machines in rural areas.
