New Delhi : Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Friday lashed out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, after he once again raised questions on Centre over the shortage of coronavirus vaccine in India.

"Just yesterday, I put out facts on vaccine availability for the month of July. What is Rahul Gandhiji's problem? Does he not read? Does he not understand? There is no vaccine for the virus of arrogance and ignorance!! Congress must think of a leadership overhaul!" Dr Vardhan said.

An hour ago, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had tweeted in Hindi that the month of July has come but vaccine has not.

Mr. Rahul Gandhi had been vocal critic of the government over its vaccination policy.

Last week, he urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to end the shortage of doses; in response, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan accused him of spreading "confusion... lies".

On Thursday, Dr. Harsh Vardhan had informed that more than 12 crore doses have been supplied to the states for the month of July.

The centre also told the top court 135 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines will be available by December - vastly less than the Union Health Ministry's projection of around 200 crore.
