Hike in fuel prices continues, Petrol breaches 82 mark in Delhi

New Delhi : Despite Centre's efforts to cut fuel prices across the nation, the hike is failing to stop. Continuing their skyrocketing run, the petrol prices have once again breached Rs 82 mark in the national capital.

For one litre of petrol, Delhi residents had to pay Rs 82.03, while for diesel they had to pull out Rs 73.82 on Monday. Despite Center's call to states to reduce VAT, Delhi government did not give any relaxation.

In Mumbai, Petrol is being sold at Rs 87.50 (increase of Rs 0.21) while diesel is being sold at Rs 77.37 (increase by Rs 0.31).

The Indian government had reduced a minimum of Rs 2.50 per litre on October 5. In BJP-ruled states, the reduction was higher as they matched the cut with a similar reduction local sales tax or VAT.

The authorities are still struggling to halt the rising prices of fuel as the international price per barron is on continuous hike and value of Rupee against dollar is on an incessant fall.
