India-Bangladesh train service resumes after two years
New Delhi : After a long gap of two years due to coronavirus pandemic, India-Bangladesh Bandhan Express train service has been resumed between the two nations.
The service will resume with Bandhan Express (Kolkata – Khulna – Kolkata) and Maitree Express (Kolkata – Dhaka – Kolkata).
The train services were suspended from Kolkata and Bangladesh in March 2020 as precautionary measure when India announced coronavirus lockdown to stop spread of the virus.
According to reports, another train service – Mitali Express – will resume from June 1. The train will operate between New Jalpaiguri and Dhaka. The tickets for these trains have already been sold out and fully booked.
India and Bangladesh are connected from four border points - Petrapole-Benapole, Singhabad-Rohanpur, Gede-Darshana and Radhikapur-Birol.
