India records 5000 new coronavirus cases, 20% more than yesterday

New Delhi : The number of new coronavirus cases in India are increasing rapidly as the nation recorded 5000 new Corona virus cases on Wednesday, 20% more than previous day. This is the first time when coronavirus cases mark has crossed 5000-mark since September 23 last year.

The positivity rate currently stands as 3.32% and the country has an active case load of 25,587 cases.

The active cases now stand at 0.06% of the total case load and the recovery date is at 98.75%. In the past 24 hours, around 2800 people have recovered, taking the total number of recoveries to 4,41,82,538.

With the sudden increase in the number of coronavirus cases, the authorities are now alerted and the government is conducting meetings to assess the current situation of the coronavirus in the nation. A review meeting has also been held to assess the readiness of health infrastructure to tackle the surge in the cases.

The surge has also been recorded in the national capital as Delhi registered 500 new infections with a positivity rate of 26.54% on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the authorities have asked people to maintain social distancing and also asked to wear masks when they are in public areas. It is advised that people should wash their hands regularly and adhere to COVID guidelines in the public places.
