India records 8,503 new coronavirus cases, active case tally inches towards 1-lakh mark

New Delhi : India on Friday registered 8,503 new cases of coronavirus, taking the total tally of cases to 3,46,74,744, as per data by Union Health Ministry.

624 new deaths have also been reported due to coronavirus in last 24 hours.

The daily rise in new coronavirus cases has been below 15,000 mark for the last 43 days.

The active caseload has risen to 94,943. Active cases comprises 0.27 per cent of total infections in India. The recovery rate in the country stands at 98.36 per cent, the highest since March 2020,the health ministry said.

The daily positivity rate has been recorded at 0.66 per cent. It has been less than 2 per cent from past 67 days.
