New Delhi : The rising number of coronavirus cases in India is not coming to a halt; for the third consecutive day, the nation registered around 75000 fresh coronavirus cases. An additional 1,021 new deaths brought the overall death count to 62,550.

The total number of positive coronavirus cases now stand at 34,63,972.

The single day hike in number of cases on Thursday is the highest in the world till date. 26,48,998 patients have recovered from the infection in the country, taking the recovery rate to 76.47 per cent.

India currently has around 7.5 lakh active cases, which is the main load on the nation.

Though the country is recording around 1,000 deaths a day from the coronavirus, roughly the same as the US and Brazil, India is far better than these countries when we consider the number of deaths per million people.

Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state in India with 14,857 fresh cases of coronavirus infection on Friday. The case tally in the state stands at 7,47,995. Maharashtra is followed by Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
