India's COVID 19 tally reaches 2.1 lakh with 9,304 new cases in a day

New Delhi : India on Thursday touched another peak with 9,304 new COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours, taking the total tally of coronavirus cases to 2,16,919.

According to the data published on the government's official website, the total number of active cases in India stands at 1,06,737 and the total number of cured people are 1,04,106. The death toll due to Covid-19 stands at 6,075. The country saw 260 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Worst-hit states like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Delhi continued to contribute in making the tally rise.

India is the seventh worst-hit nation by the Covid-19 pandemic after the US, Brazil, Russia, the UK, Spain and Italy. India’s tally had crossed the two-lakh mark on Tuesday night with nearly 1 lakh new cases have emerged in a span of 15 days. The first Covid-19 case in India was detected on January 30.

With daily 1.4 lakh tests, the total testing has crossed 4 million mark, said the health ministry.

National capital Delhi on Wednesday recorded over 1,500 new cases of the coronavirus disease, its highest single-day spike. With 1,513 new cases in the last 24 hours (between Tuesday and Wednesday), the total number of cases in Delhi is 23,645.
