Indigo flight manhandling case: All you need to know

New Delhi : A passenger Rajiv Katiyal, who boarded an Indigo flight from Chennai to New Delhi, was manhandled by a ground staff after a verbal argument before taking the airport shuttle.

The incident is allegedly a month old, but it came to light after a video was shared on the social media, attracting criticism from almost everyone who watched the video.

Government Action: Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha asked Indigo to file a detailed report regarding the incident.

"IndiGo passenger incident from October 15 is deplorable and unfortunate. Passenger safety and security is our top-most priority," Sinha said in a series of tweets.

"MoCA (Ministry of Civil Aviation) has already asked for a detailed report from Indigo by tomorrow... Indigo senior executives have personally apologised to the passenger."

"We hope that the passenger will file a criminal complaint. This will enable us to take appropriate action."

IndiGo Reaction: Taking a quick action post media reports and criticism, President and Whole Time Director Aditya Ghosh tendered apology and also revealed that involved staff person has been removed from his duties.

"I acknowledge the unpleasant experience our passenger went through, while engaging with our staff at Delhi airport. My personal apologies as this does not reflect our culture."

"I had personally spoken to the passenger and asked for an apology... Under the code of conduct violation, this incident was investigated and stern action was taken against the staff."

About Manhandling of passenger at IGI Airport by Indigo staff

A video surfaced on internet showing passenger - Rajiv Katiyal - being manhandled by the airline's staff after a verbal altercation.

Katiyal, who arrived from Chennai, was waiting for the bus inside the airport when the incident happened. Though the video did not show the cause of verbal fight, the reaction by Indigo staff was shameful in all manners.
