Interpol issues red corner notice against Mehul Choksi on CBI's request

New Delhi : Interpol on Thursday issued red corner notice against fugitive businessman Mehul Choksi on a special request of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Red Corner Notice (RCN) will allow arrest on the foreign land for Mehul Choksi, who is accused of doing Rs 13000 crore bank fraud.

Authorities in Antigua will now look for his whereabouts and inform India. He had taken citizenship of Antigua on January 15 and just days later, on January 29, the CBI filed a case and started investigating Mr Choksi and Nirav Modi.

Last month, Mr Choksi's lawyer told the investigating agencies that he is not in a position to record his statement. "If his condition gets better" Mr Choksi may return to India, the lawyer had said. In July, the Interpol had issued a similar notice against Nirav Modi, the main accused in the bank fraud cases.
