Its too late! Bride choses another groom when Baraat gets late in UP

A miffed bride over long delay in the arrival of baraat chose to pick up another groom in a marriage in Uttar Pradesh, said a report. According to a Times Of India report, the incident took place in Bijnor's Nangaljat village last week. The bride refused to go with her groom and instead got married to a local man on Saturday.

As mentioned in the report, the two had tied knot in October amid mass gathering and were again tying knot on December 4 with proper ceremonies. The groom, from Dhampur town, was supposed to arrive at the bride's village with his baraat for the ceremony at 2pm in the afternoon. However, the wedding party only reached the bride's house late at night.

The late arrival and the fact of disagreement between the families over dowery issues miffed both the bride and the relatives.

The bride's family then later locked up the groom and his family and allegedly snatched all the belongings after they arrived hours late from the expected time.

According to Aaj Tak, police had to intervene to rescue the wedding party.

"Both the families have approached the police," said Haldaur station house officer Kanta Prashad to Times Of India. "They reached a compromise. But the bride did not want to go with the groom. There was no written complaint from either side."

The matter was resolved later when the two got divorced and the bride went with her new husband.
