Jallikattu protest: All routes to Marina beach closed, cops evict protestors

Chennai : The Chennai city cops on Monday morning started eviction of pro-Jallikattu protestors from Marina Beach, citing reason that their purpose of protest has been fulfilled. All routes leading to protest sites were also closed by the police.

"Through an exemplary display of unity and discipline, the purpose of the protest has been fully achieved," the statement said, requesting the protesters to cooperate with the police.

In a press release issued by the Chennai Police on Monday morning, it has been mentioned that the protest has been carried in a disciplined manner without causing inconvenience to the general public and hindrance to the traffic.

People were not sure about moving out from the location, so they sought more time to think but at around 6:30am, cops started forcefully evicting them from the site.

The protest was launched on Wednesday.
