Doctors call off strike

Kolkata : Junior doctors of NRS hospital, Kolkata have called off their strike after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee assured them of doing the needful. As per information, the doctors will resume their duties from Tuesday morning.

"We withdraw our strike after our meeting with the Chief Minister. The meeting has been positive and fruitful. We appeal all junior doctors across Bengal to resume work as soon as possible. We have decided to give time to the state government to implement our proposals raised in the meeting,” a representative of the striking doctors said at the state-run NRS Medical College and Hospital.

'It is our victory,' said an intern, who had been shouting 'We want justice' through the seven days. A female intern stated, "We heard our Chief Minister speak and I have full faith in her. Now we hope our worries will end."

The doctors had been sitting on strike since last week after a brutal attack on the two junior doctors by the family members of a dead patient in the NRS Medical College and Hospital.
