New Delhi : Karnataka Lokayukta Justice P. Vishwanath Shetty was attacked with a knife at his office on Wednesday afternoon. He has been admitted to the ICU in the critical situation.

The attacker has been identified Tejas Sharma. Based on his entry in the official register, it is believed that he is an advocate by profession.

He entered in Vishwanath's office in the pretext of lodging a complaint. After five minutes, the staff outside heard screams. On rushing inside the cabin, they found Mr. Shetty lying in the pool of blood. The staffers rushed him to the nearby Mallya Hospital, reported The Hindu.

The doctors also confirmed the newspaper about his health and said he is stable.

The police have arrested the attacker and are interrogating him to learn the reason behind the attack.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, accompanied by his Cabinet colleagues Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy, City Development Minister K.J. George and Water Resources Minister M.B. Patil, and senior police officials rushed to the hospital. Mr. Siddaramaiah reportedly spoke to the doctors treating Mr. Shetty.
