Kidnapped son of Income Tax officer found dead near lake in Bengaluru

Bengaluru : The 19-year-old son of an Income Tax officer has been found dead near Rachenahalli Lake in Bengaluru. The victim was kidnapped on September 12.

Four people have been arrested so far in connection with the case of abduction and murder.

Sharath had gone missing after he went to meet his friends at around 6:30 pm on September 12. The parents lodged a complaint with the police after he did not return home till late night.

"The boy's mother called him many times but the calls went unanswered. Today, his parents and sister received a WhatsApp video from his mobile phone, in which the boy is seen asking them to arrange Rs 50 lakh towards his ransom," said a police officer associated with the investigation.

In the primary investigation it has been learned that the boy was kidnapped by one of his relatives. Soon after realising that a police complaint has been filed, the accused dumped his body near the lake.

The body of Sharath was found floating in the lake and now police is interrogating the matter.
