Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar under CBI Scanner

Kolkata : Soon after the Kolkata Police detained five CBI officers and offices including the residences of officials were surrounded by the local police, the Central Bureau of Investigations has put Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar under scanner for his connection in Saradha Chit Fund case.

Top sources in the CBI have told India Today TV that the agency suspects Rajeev Kumar of hiding crucial documents he had seized during the investigations of Saradha scam.

Following Supreme Court's direction, the agency had asked Mr Rajeev Kumar several times to submit the documents provided by the SIT.

"We wanted some clarity on the documents given to us by the SIT after we took over the case in 2014 after the Supreme Court's order. During the investigations, we found that a few crucial documents are missing and a few documents, we suspect, have been manipulated. To clarify this part, we wanted to examine all the members of SIT including Kumar," said a CBI officer.

However, despite several summons Rajeev Kumar did not come forward, leaving CBI officials with no option than to reach his residence to question him.
