New Delhi : One year has passed but there is no trace of Professor Vipin Kishor Mishra, from Araria Law College, who was abducted. The primary report of his abduction was filed in September 2022. Seeking the recovery of the missing professor, his daughter Anjali Priya has filed a petition in the Patna High Court. During the hearing of petition, the bench of Justice P.B. Bajanthri and Justice R.C. Malviya of the Patna High Court took a serious note of the matter and directed the Araria Police Administration to submit a response within two weeks to the District SP.

Lawyer Sanjeev Kumar said that under the filed petition, the state government's lawyer had requested a report from the SP of Araria regarding the criminal incident. According to the SP, a report related to the incident had been sent. Now, after the hearing of the petition in the High Court, the bench has given the SP two weeks to submit a response. Lawyer Sanjeev Kumar mentioned that due to the case taking more than a year, the bench expressed deep concern and also criticized the lax approach of the police. He informed that the bench has demanded a minute-by-minute detailed account in the sworn affidavits for every step taken by the formed SIT. The court has also inquired about the progress of the police investigation into the discovery of the body.

Professor Vipin Kishor Mishra of the Law College was abducted by criminals on September 24, 2022. According to the eyewitness and Vipin Mishra's sister Nirupama Thakur, the accused Prakash Mishra took Vipin Mishra from Nirupama's house in the evening on September 24. Vipin Mishra had said, 'I will be back in an hour,' and since then, he has not returned home. It is noteworthy that Vipin Mishra is a resident of Beerpur in Supaul district, and on September 24, he had come from Beerpur to Araria in response to repeated calls from his nephew Prakash Mishra, his brother Rakesh Mishra, and the father of these two brothers, Bhuvan Mishra.

In this case, Professor Vipin Kishor Mishra's wife, Premalata Mishra, had filed an FIR at the Araria police station. In the case, the professor's wife had expressed suspicion of the involvement of Rakesh Kumar Mishra, Prakash Kumar Mishra, Deepak Kumar Mishra, and others in her husband's abduction. In the course of the investigation, the complicity of Prakash Mishra, Rakesh Mishra, Deepak Mishra, Rajiv Mishra, Bhuvan Mishra, Arjun Acharya, Bablu Mishra, and Neetish Yadav came to light. Only one accused, Prakash Mishra, was successfully arrested by the police, but due to a lack of proper investigation, he was released on bail after ten months with legal support. Meanwhile, the rest of the accused remained fugitives for eight months. The family is distressed due to the continued absence of the abducted professor. Relatives have also alleged a lack of action in the case and accused the Araria police administration of adopting a negligent approach in the investigation.
